I was having a bit of a browse on t’internet in the name of research yesterday. As you do. This was a noble quest to supplement you, dear reader, with interesting facts on Stockport. There was also the intention to locate some good pictures to furnish these shared snippets of newly-found wisdom. Instead, hopelessly distracted by the world wide web’s ephemera, I ended up on the Zazzle website. This led to the discovery that one can boldly declare allegiance to the borough through branded merchandise. Genius! One such bauble is this sexy receptacle…

Does what it says on the mug

Keys and a cup of tea at Sivori’s

Well, fella and I now have the keys to the village! (OK, at least to our new place.) We briefly celebrated our first foray into becoming denizens of Edgeley by having a wee poke around the new house. We live on quite a quiet road; the neighbours seem friendly, and the magnificent, if slightly grubby, spire of St Matthew’s is clearly visible from the end of our street. This church was built in 1843, over the Brinkway chapel. According to Stockport Council, the Brinkway Chapel earned the nickname of ‘Beef-steak’ as the men who built it wanted to promote vegetarianism. As a veggie myself, I approve!
Before the fella had to get back to work, we had a nice brew at Sivori’s and a simple, tasty, and fat-laden cheese and onion toastie. Aforementioned toastie came with a buttered toast garnish, think I’m going to love living here!
Moving! Soon!

in Crap apology
Apologies for brief hiatus; we thought we’d be moving to Stockport a little quicker than the time it’s taken for all the rent references, landlord negotiations blah-de-blah *insert long, labourious, and rather dull story here*
More coming soon…
Living on the Edgeley

Myself and the significant other are about to embark upon renting a terraced house in Edgeley, which is – as you’ve already rightly guessed – an area in Stockport (wake up, the clue’s in this blog’s name).
Renting in Edgeley is significantly cheaper than the houses which are let in Manchester. To be honest, the terraced houses here are quite a bit nicer than those in Levenshulme. A brief wander around the village seemed to present a tight-knit community too. Going on first appearances and on feeling, Edgeley was for the win in terms of choosing where to reside for the next year or so.
Once we move in, I’m going to do some lurking around the village; reporting on the locale and what the area has to offer to the discerning Stopfordian and Stockport sympathisers.
